Ft Scott CC Truck Driver Trg
The six-week Commercial Truck Driving Program at Fort Scott Community College will allow you to earn 16 hours of college credit in preparation for the Commercial Driving License (CDL) examination for operating vehicles in interstate commerce.
Program Locations Students may study at either of our four locations Fort Scott, Kan.; Kansas City, Kan.; Emporia, KS: or Topeka, KS in a program offered in cooperation with Kansas City Community College. All Four sites are authorized licensing agencies for the driving skills portion of the CDL examination in Kansas.
About the Program During their six weeks of study, students in the Commercial Truck Driving Program will accumulate 240 hours of class and driving time. Emphasis is on federal motor carrier regulations, driver's daily log and mileage, as well as, defensive driving.
Other Opportunities at FSCC In addition to the transportation classes, students also participate in individually designed programs to improve their reading and math skills. Students also will be given the opportunity to complete the high school equivalency test if they desire.
Our Educational Objective The educational objective of the FSCC Commercial Truck Driving Program is to provide the student with the information and practical experience necessary to become a successful driver of tractor-trailer rigs. Students who successfully complete the course will have the necessary skills to begin work with an established trucking firm, and will be presented a school certificate.
Job Opportunities Brought to You During the course of their studies, students will have several opportunities to meet with recruiters from trucking firms from throughout the United States. An average of 96-percent of FSCC students who successfully complete the truck driving program are offered a job.
