In order to obtain your Florida CDL, requirements state that you must be at least 18 years of age, or 21 if you plan to drive across state lines or wish for a HAZMAT endorsement. You’ll need to provide two forms of ID, proof of residency and social security, as well as pass a medical examination. In order to pass your CDL test, you’ll need to first pass the general knowledge test.
Specific vehicle types also require additional knowledge tests, such as the passenger transport test, combination vehicles test, hazardous materials test, tankers test, doubles/triples test or School Bus test. Upon successful completion of your knowledge tests, you’ll take your skills test, including pre-trip vehicle inspection, basic vehicle control and on-road tests.
