Arizona CDL Requirements

In order to obtain your Arizona Commercial Driver’s License, you must have held a valid driver’s license for at least one year and have a passed a physical medical examination. You must also possess a valid social security card. Upon application for your CDL, you’ll be asked to pass a written general knowledge test and a knowledge test for any specific vehicle types you’re planning to operate. You’ll then take a skills test that covers vehicle inspection, basic skills and driving.

The state of Arizona does not provide vehicles, so if you do not have access to one, you can contact the Arizona Motor Vehicle Departments Third Party Program to make arrangements for a contract agent to give you the exam.
